Sheffield’s own Gia Ford is set to captivate commuters today (6th Feb) with a free pop-up performance at Sheffield Train Station. The gig is part of a nationwide initiative designed to shake up commuters’ listening habits and introduce them to fresh talent.
Jacqueline Starr, CEO of Rail Delivery Group, said: “Music is a favourite way for many of our customers to pass the time on their journey, whether it’s to energise them on the way to work or help them relax on the way home. To celebrate 2025 marking 200 years since the birth of the modern railway, we’re making it easier for commuters to discover new music for their playlists.”

Known for her dark, macabre alternative rock, Gia’s music draws inspiration from artists like Fleetwood Mac and Nick Cave. Her debut album, Transparent Things, delves into stories of outcasts and complex characters, showcasing her unique storytelling ability. As she told Exposed last year, “There are a lot of outcasts on the record, people that feel invisible to the world.”
Reflecting on her connection to the city, Gia shared, “I just love Sheffield and it feels like my place on Earth. It’s the most perfect place for me and feels like a magnet.”
With further gigs planned at key commuter hubs across the country, this initiative offers music fans the chance to experience live performances in unexpected places. But for today, Sheffield Station is the place to be – so if you’re passing through, take a moment to stop, listen, and discover one of the city’s most exciting new artists.
