Has the thought of having to entertain the kids for the next six weeks got you stressed? The Children’s University Festival of Fun might just be the answer.
The event is part of a national initiative that encourages and celebrates participation in learning opportunities outside of normal school hours. There’s 40 activities around the city, including sessions on the science of sweets or learning the moves to The Greatest Showman. The event wraps up on the 11 August.
Councillor Jayne Dunn, Sheffield city council’s cabinet member for education and skills, said: “Sheffield Children’s University is a really inspiring initiative providing free activities for all our young people across the city. We want to make sure that learning is fun for all our children and there’s sure to be something to interest everyone whether they like arts and crafts, outdoor activities, sports or learning new skills.
All activities reward Sheffield children who take part in voluntary learning activities. Every hour spent at an event earns you a credit which you can collect to receive Sheffield CU award certificates and badges. Kids can attend each event with a passport to learning from their local library which costs £3.50.
