As the festive season rolls around so does a tour for the Brummy beauts The Twang, who have embarked on their Christmas dates across the country.

There is a sense of excitement in the air as I make my way through the packed out crowd who appear raring and ready to go ahead of the band’s performance tonight. The atmosphere is heightened further by the fact its Mad Friday and many appear to be filled to the brim with festive cheer.

The Twang kick off their set with one of their most popular tracks ‘Took the Fun’. This one is given a warm welcome by this steel-city crowd as they cheer and belt out every line while bouncing with their pints flying around.

Another popular one arrives next in the form of ‘Barney Rubble’ – arguably one of the strongest and most pristinely performed tracks of the evening as you can feel the strong connection between the band who play each instrument with an expression of sheer delight.

The crowd appear increasingly more excited and the atmosphere rises throughout the set as friends and strangers link arm in arm singing out to reminisce on the noughties when these songs were carefully crafted.

One of the most special moments of the night was the transition between ‘Either Way’ to ‘Two Lovers’, both from the same album. The similar chords make it a seamless transition but also even more exciting for the crowd as they go from one fan favourite to another with hardly any time to pause for breath but beaming with smiles of joy ear to ear.

As the band exit the stage, the speakers burst out with ‘Fairytale of New York’ sending these Mad Friday lovers into further festive spirits and the entire room laps up every line.
