A petition calling for the BBC to give Arctic Monkeys their own TV special is picking up momentum.

Started by James Gillen in late March, the Change.org petition is demanding the Sheffield boys get their own one-hour special to celebrate the upcoming launch of their sixth album, in a similar fashion to previous BBC shows on Sam Smith and U2.

The petition’s gained over 500 signatures, the majority of those coming from the last couple of weeks as the petition picks up steam.

While the band haven’t officially commented on the petition, Clive Helders, father of drummer Matt, has started sharing it on his Twitter and Instagram feeds regularly, so we imagine it must have made an appearance in the Helders family WhatsApp group at least.

James writes: “it’s time for the BBC to celebrate one of the finest British bands of the 21st century at their peak” so if you agree and want to see the lads on prime-time screens add your signature to the list here!
