JAWS are no strangers to Sheffield, having seemingly played the Steel City every time they go out on tour. We spoke to lead singer and guitarist Connor Schofield about boredom, their upcoming adventure and changing styles.
Hiya Connor! You’re about to hit the road again on a big fat UK tour. Excited?
We can’t bloody wait!
Your second album ‘Simplicity’ is heavier than the first. Did you find that your sound changed as you grew older / wiser, or was it down to a change in influence?
We’ve always been into heavy music. mE and eddy used to play in hardcore bands so it was a very natural progression for us.
Do you think it’s important for a band to evolve with each record?
Of course, nobody wants the same thing twice, unless it’s a really good pizza.
You’ve released two albums, launched a clothing brand and recently unleashed your solo-project on the world. What keeps you inspired?
Boredom.
You’re playing at The Plug again in Sheffield. How does it feel to be finally upgraded to the main room?
About bloody time to be honest, we’ve played the small a few times over the last five years. It’s going to be a really good – I can’t wait for that.
You’re at a service station and you’ve got £4. What you getting?
Bloody hell, at a service station for £4 you’re not getting much… I reckon keep it simple: two sausage rolls and a bottle of water.
What superpower would you have?
MIND READER.
If you could be any vegetable what would you be and why?
A potato – because everything is mashed in the end.
Who’s your musical guilty pleasure?
I’m not embarrassed by any of musical choices…. Carly Rae Jepson.
Best item from Greggs?
Sausage roll
Which fast food chain does the best cookies?
Subway.
What’s your worst habit?
I pick my nose a lot to be fair.
Which member of JAWS would be most likely to shave your eyebrows while you sleep?
It would be me shaving Alex, our guitarist.
Why’s your clothing line called ‘bored’?
Because was bored when i made it 🙁
Is everything going to be alright?
No 🙁
