Street City food festival has been temporarily pulled after disputes with the council.
The temporary cancellation of the monthly street food festival comes following disputes with the council about noise and planning issues.
After launching towards the back-end of last year, Street City has been a roaring success with punters, especially those with children, catering for those who don’t fancy the journey down to Peddler and might be up for a stint in Napoleons afterwards. From its venue in an ex-commercial lot just off Ecclesall Road, the nighttime festival’s popularity is thanks to its themed parties offering street food, alongside live bands and DJs.
The team behind Street City shed some light on the situation from their webpage, and explained that they will continue to protest the council’s decision: “The event has been a huge success for the local community, bringing together groups of all ages across the local area. The event has never caused any trouble or undue stresses the the local infrastructure, being completely contained”.
They ask all those who enjoy and attend the festival to email the local MP Jared O’Mara with the message #savestreetcity, and to sign their online petition.
