Kelham Island Community Alliance are holding their second Ball Street Deli on Mother’s Day this Sunday, March 26th.
Kelham Island might be a hotspot for thousands of residents to live, people to work and businesses to thrive, but fresh produce is not as easy to come by. Until now. A local take on the traditional farmers’ market with high quality produce will be taking place on the picturesque Ball Street Bridge in Kelham Island. Local live music and entertainment will be provided, along with a pop-up restaurant and diverse mix of Sheffield’s finest makers.
Looking for something a bit different? The Kelham Island Art and Heritage Trail will be at the event and will be showcasing their new project to make a nature and industrial heritage trail across the island using telephone utility boxes painted by local artists in conjunction with a children’s competition to design them. Artists will be on-hand with examples of painted boxes and competition forms.
In addition to the stalls Ball Street Deli had last time (Beanies, Depot Bakery, Sheffield Brewery, Smith St. Coffee, Urban Pantry, etc.) Moss Valley Farm will be there with a fresh meat stall, as well as Lilly’s Ice Cream, Books on the Park, Vintage Cakes and Nikki’s Pickles.
There will also be hot food available provided by Nether Edge Pizza, The Grind Cafe, Rich’s Lamb pop-up restaurant and a special stall by Stew & Oyster – a new restaurant opening in the Little Kelham Development soon – who will be offering free tastings of their restaurant menu.
As it’s Mothers’ Day, you’ll also find a prosecco bar (served from a converted retro Volkswagen combi-bus), and Becky’s Children’s Craft Hour will keep the kids occupied with face painting and activities. As usual don’t miss the information and charity stalls, e.g. Don Catchment Rivers Trust, ASSIST (Asylum seekers charity) and Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust.
Ball Street Deli will take place 12-4pm on the Ball St. Bridge. The nearby Bhaji Shop, Kelham Island Wine Bar and The Milestone will all be open as usual.
