It’s a magical place unlike anywhere else, and you are guaranteed to make unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

Below are a few of some of the wonderful experiences you can plan for your Icelandic adventure:

See the Northern Lights

One of the most truly magical natural wonders in the world is to be able to witness the dazzling Northern Lights that light up the skies of the Northern Hemisphere. Iceland draws travellers from the world over who long to stare up at the sky in awe of this beautiful natural light display.

Otherwise known as the aurora borealis, this spectacular natural phenomenon is a sight to behold. The waves of green and purple dance across the sky and are most frequently seen during the winter months in the Earth’s northernmost areas, making Iceland the perfect place if you want to try and catch a glimpse of them.

Visit the Blue Lagoon

It wouldn’t be a trip to Iceland without visiting the world-famous Blue Lagoon. This Icelandic hot spring remains one of the most visited places in Iceland, where you bathe in this geothermal spa overlooking beautiful frozen landscapes. You can also visit the Lagoon Spa, where you can enjoy a range of unique health treatments using silica mud from the lagoon itself.

Go whale watching

To go whale watching is surely one of the experiences at the top of every intrepid traveller’s bucket list. In Iceland, you will find an abundance of whales that call these frozen waters their home, including the world’s largest mammal, the blue whale!

Numerous whale-watching tours depart from different locations in Iceland, with Husavik considered to be the top location due to its abundance of sea creatures passing through its fjords.

Explore Vik and Dyrhólaey

Famed for dramatic basalt columns on the side of the Reynisfjall mountain, Vik is certainly a unique location you should consider visiting on your Iceland adventure.

From there, you can make your way onto the black sandy beaches of Dyrhólaey, where you can marvel at the gorgeous sweeping coastlines. This area is also home to hundreds of nesting puffins, so it’s a great place for animal lovers to catch a glimpse of their colonies.

Sample the local cuisine

Icelandic cuisine is truly unique, and you will be spoilt for choice with wonderful restaurants and eateries on your trip where you can sample local delicacies, from freshly caught seafood and lamb to native berries that grow all over the island.
