Exposed spent the morning with the Tramlines team pottering about Hillsborough Park, the festival’s new base for 2018 and just one of many changes they’ll be introducing this year…
The site will include four stages and is licensed to hold up to 40,000 people, which naturally means bigger acts and a wider range of entertainment will be on offer.
New additions include:
- A stage offering live comedy for the first time in the festival’s history
- Pop-up cinema
- A stage programmed by The Leadmill and local ledge Jon McClure
- A designated area for kids and family entertainment
- The Library Stage – which will showcase a wide variety of emerging talent
- Stronger emphasis on showcasing local traders at the festival
- The expansion of Into the Trees – a sheltered area providing family entertainment through the day and hosting an exciting bill of DJs in the evening

Festival Director Sarah Nulty told us: “We really wanted to do something different for the 10th anniversary and moving to a bigger park means we can include lots of extra interesting elements and deliver more than just music – although saying that, we’re going bigger than we ever have before with the lineup! It will be a more traditional greenfield format but still within the city. We’re staying on the tram lines so that we can remain connected with the city centre – our new site is 13 mins from the city centre and only 5 minutes away from last year’s main stage. We always wanted to be a city-wide festival, and this just extends the footprint that little bit further. We’re really proud of what we’re delivering for the 10th year and can’t wait to unveil it completely!”
