Chaat Cart, Fat Hippo and The Depot Bakery have been added to the impressive line-up of food traders for new Castle House food hall Kommune.
Anticipation for the opening of Sheffield’s latest social destination Kommune is growing as the venue confirms three new additions to its independent-led line-up.
Joining Pom Kitchen, Hop Hideout and Shoot The Bull is Manchester’s Chaat Cart, Newcastle’s Fat Hippo and Sheffield’s own Depot Bakery.
Winners of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival’s Best Street Food Award, Chaat Cart is a South-Indian inspired cuisine, described by owner Aarti Pandey as an “evolution of her street food journey, mixing snacks typically sold from roadside stalls, small plates showcasing home-style south Indian cooking, with more refined supper club favourites drawing on India’s hunting and fishing traditions”.
Popular burger joint, Fat Hippo have had many successful pop-ups in Sheffield over the years and are looking forward to a more permanent venture. Executive Chef Michael Johnson said: “To have been offered a space in such an exciting new project that supports independents like ourselves is a great opportunity that we can’t wait to make the most of! Our burgers reflect the quality ingredients we source from local suppliers: shop local; buy local; support local.”
Kelham Island’s beloved Depot Bakery have also been recruited for the food hall so you can indulge in all your favourite sugary snacks. Depot Bakery’s Jon Perry said: “The team at the depot bakery are hugely excited to be a part of Kommune, for some time we have wanted to be situated in the city centre and Kommune is the perfect opportunity to showcase a new range of sweet products and give more people access to ‘real’ bread.”
