A stand out event in the Dronfield social calendar for the past two decades, Dronfest will make its return to Cliffe Park for the twentieth anniversary of the festival this weekend.
Well-established Dronfest is a family friendly, not-for-profit music festival held every year in Dronfield, Derbyshire. The festival had humble beginnings, starting out as a party to celebrate the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of John and Jackie Aspinall, organised with the help of friends and family. Now, it has become a popular community festival, fundraising for worthy charities in the area and showcasing local talent. In recent years, the festival has gone from strength to strength, raising a staggering £100,000 for local charities such as St John’s Ambulance Dronfield and Dronfield Cardio Club.
In recent years, headliners have included Andy Fairweather Low & The Low Riders, Dodgy, and Dreadzone. This year, new noise on the block Ferocious Dog are headlining Dronfest, treating festival-goers to their unique folk punk sound. The band’s fiercely loyal fans, often referred to as the ‘Hell-Hounds’ will be dancing and singing along to fan favourites such as ‘Gallows Justice’, ‘Black Gold’ and ‘Slow Motion Euphoria’.
After all the singing and dancing, guests can kick back and relax with a drink at the bar – proceeds of which are all given to charity. There will also be a variety of stalls to visit from Henna Tattoos and Massages to a Clairvoyant stall and an Antiques Centre. For families, there will be a host of activities to keep kids entertained throughout the day such as bouncy castles, inflatable games and face painting.
