Jorja Smith graced Sheffield with her soulful voice, bringing brand new songs from her upcoming debut album to The Leadmill earlier this February .

With a seamless set from start to finish, goosebumps were certainly felt all around the packed venue at The Leadmill. Smith’s sold out performance seemed effortless, from her laid-back appearance to her casual falsettos. Opening with “Where Did I Go”, the West Midlands-born singer performed well known hits like “Blue Lights” and “Teenage Fantasy” along with her latest song “Let me Down” which features Grime artist Stormzy.

The recent winner of the Brits critics’ choice award delivered dreamy songs from her up-coming debut album, which left the crowd in transfixed silence. Unable to sing along with her fresh lyrics, fans nonetheless bounced along to the beat of the live band – who she comically introduces- with the lack of side stage lighting, leaving her drummer hidden away in the dark.

Plunging into an acoustic cover of Frank Ocean’s “Lost” provoked impulsive screams from the crowd. Smith also playfully dipped into a rap verse during one of her new tunes, something she probably wrote in her sleep. It’s hard to believe that such an impressive vocal range can come from someone aged just 20-years-old. With her style firmly set, she emits a soulful likeness to Amy Winehouse; a big influence of Smiths’.

Accompanied by a piano, Smith sang the intro to her acoustic version of “On my Mind” before dancing around the lamp-lit stage, as the electronic beat of the Preditah track played over the speakers.

Since collaborating with Drake on his “More Life” mixtape, Smith recently toured North America on Bruno Mars’ “24K Magic’ World Tour. She’s come a long way since supporting NAO on her UK tour back in 2016. The future is undeniably bright for the rising star, with her debut album set to be released around her 21st birthday this June. This seems like just the beginning of a blossoming career for the R&B artist.

She’s on tour now and in the Autumn, Tickets are already selling out, so grab your tickets here before they go!
